The Faculty of Engineering was established in April, 1963,
with its three consecutive departments: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical
Engineering and Industrial Chemistry. One year later, two more departments,
Civil Engineering and Architecture, were added in response to the demands of
an ever-progressing industrial society.
Scientific knowledge and technology play an important role in human
existence and welfare. Naturally, students must develop an ability to carry
out studies in their specialized fields as well as to cultivate creativity,
sound judgment of values, and a philosophy of humanity. In particular, the
fundamentals of progressive and new industrial techniques are emphasized in
the education of all students in the Faculty of Engineering. Students are also
encouraged to make every effort to obtain a position which will facilitate the
practical application of knowledge thus gained thereby making an important
contribution to national prosperity. Most of the graduates are now playing an
active role in private enterprises.
